NBB Assistant Professor Search
UCI invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor position to join the faculty of the Department of Neurobiology and Behavior in the School of Biological Sciences at the University of California, Irvine.
Ideal applicants will employ addiction-relevant behavioral models in rodents or other model organisms and will conduct research that integrates cutting edge neuroscience techniques and conceptually innovative approaches to better understand the biological bases of addiction and related disorders. Additional research interests may include the intersection of social environment with drug use and/or comorbidity of drug use with other disorders/disease states, such as psychiatric conditions, metabolic disorders, or infectious disease. Join NBB in a Wellbeing Dialogue Series featuring Dr. Joel Milam, Professor, Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Program in Public Health and Department of Medicine, School of Medicine.
Optimism and Hope are two protective psychological factors that promote wellbeing. In this session we will review the relationships between these factors and health outcomes and ways to foster/adapt to optimistic/pessimistic ways of thinking.

You are invited to the first meeting of NBB's Culture Club. These meetings are intended to facilitate candid conversations between faculty, staff, and trainees on topics related to diversity, equity, and inclusion in science. The overarching goal of this series is to promote a departmental culture that promotes open, fact-based, culturally aware, and inclusive discussions among all its members.
Each meeting will center around a different topic. Some - such as the first meeting - will discuss a pre-assigned scientific article on the topic. All NBB members are welcome to engage in open discussion. We will discuss the following paper: "Bystander training for faculty: A promising approach to tackling microaggressions in the academy" (Haynes-Baratz, Michelle C., et al. New Ideas in Psychology 63, 2021).
